I need your help - your brainstormed ideas . . .
I am starting to organize a story that is a morality play or sorts for my 6 year old Godson, whom I coparent. It will include a yound man setting off in the world and encountering archetypal beings and situations that engage him and end up teaching him somthing essential about living a fulfilling life. the main character will be discussing these situations and beings with a wise person from time to time. I am an artist. You can see some of my work on my profile pics. I will be doing a photo shoot (B&W infrareds) for every chapter in the story. I will be compiling the story and images into a small, hand bound book. I'l make about 100 editions of the book.
What I need help on is the story:
* What do you think the most important things are to learn and integrate to live a fulfilling life?
* What are the best ways to deal with disapointment and loss, with death?
* What are the most essential archetypal situations that teach us the most about living a fulfilling life?
* What archetypal characters teach us the most about living a connected, passionate, and loving life?
* What situations would you create to teach the main Character the foundations of a connected, passionate, and loving life?
Any ideas will be most appreciated.

Re: Ideas for Contemorary Morality Story/Fine Art Photo Shoot
Mon, December 10, 2007 - 11:53 AMDaniel, wonderful to hear of your project, just some brain storming ideas to post, good luck.
Most important things to learn and integrate to live a fullfilling life?
a) the stages in life relative to age and accepting the stages
b) to dream and then choose to make the dreams one desires to come true
c) being well, healthy on a mind to molecular level, choosing to be well, perpetuating a longer life.
d) how to make decisions and accepting the outcome, seeing the truth in action while celebrating life.
e) ancient sayings, proverbs.." if it hurts don't do it"
there are tons more I am sure........
Dealing with disapointment and loss, death...
a) embracing memories, making special moments in time to celebrate in a positive creative way, mini festivals in memorie.
b) surprises, planned of course to teach the mind acceptance with appreciation of the surprise (good things- jack in the box's, whoopie cushions, fishing a finger puzzle out of your pocket, if used in play with fun intent, the memorie building is excellent, magic tricks, teaching skills along the way, juggling is excellent and full of constant surprise mind excersises (practicing over a bed is best at first- easier to pick them up when they fall: this is exceptional excersise for dealing with disapointment, and to overcome and feel success.
c) investigating life, plants from seeds growing is an amazing pet project, going into science, the regeneration of cells, the chemical reactions of house hold baking goods, how one thing can effect and change what one other thing is doing, cause and effect.
d) Storie time, puppet theatre enacting famous drama, shakespear, harry potter, lord of the rings,
Gosh thats all I have to offer right now, hope a bit of it helps further your concepts, I think this is amazing what you are doing, a huge undertaking but so worth while.
I have a buzz of key words and titles of plays and stories and movies, the top most on the list is "Strings" kind of a scary movie for young kids, being 6 he may have the warrior about him soon, the movie is about a prince who's father is murded by the evil count who desires to rule the land, and tricks the prince to leave the castle, on his journey the prince discovers different puppet people (for the puppet aspect is huge, marrionette strings are huge at showing us mortality, the life force being the strings, it is visualy magic), The journey reveals truth to the prince who is empowered to regain the land and brings peace to the land- there is tons of morality, mass amounts of memory and greaf for those dead (for a battle ground is found by the prince), and acceptance of people and history, and future dreams being seeded for a future of light and good living where the past is remembered as leasons and gifts.
Ah I have typed on a bit, good luck with your project, looking forward to knowing more about it.
Cheers,
Leah

Re: Ideas for Contemorary Morality Story/Fine Art Photo Shoot
Wed, January 2, 2008 - 8:57 AMIt is very interesting for me to come across this just after re-reading all of my favotite childhood story books, (literally, I just put down "Gwinna") and the idea of how far I had come since those days that I was little, reading those books and thinking of what my adventure would be is fresh in my mind. Just this past December 16th I graduated from school as a Massage Technichian, and have plans of furthering my studies to someday become a physical therapist working with doctors and within my own practice. We'll see how everything goes, but for the first time I realized that I had accomplished a dream, and that no magical God-Mother or Father, no little Gnome or Pixi, NO ONE but myself fulfilled that dream. I had to go out and make it work for myself. I never had any help from anyone, in fact it was an uphill battle, but I made it work and it's working still. Not to say that I didn't meet a grand array of wonderfull people and see new places, I did, and not to say that none of these people helped, some did, but they made it easier for me only by making me feel welcomed and supported, they didn't lift my burdens onto their shoulders and let me rest a while. They didn't point the right way for me to go, I still had to learn all that for myself. So I guess the point of my observations is this, The world is wide and wonderful, but nothing comes easily, and even when we achieve something we must work hard to hold onto it. We will find friends and allie's along the way, but we can't count on anyone to save us from the world. We and only ouselves can take charge and save the day. Hehe ok, thats my two sense hehehehe
I always hoped to become the old crone in all the stories I ever read. To know much, be wise and paitient, and help others along thier way. Now I come to find that Im my own old crone, leading myself to my victories.
I suppose if I were to write something I might try to include some sort of lesson about supporting one's self, Like a prince or princess who was spoilt all their lives and then one day found themselves all alone in the world with nought but their wits to guid them (more or less my story in a pinch). Through much suffering and turmoil, but always with courage and faith, they would struggle to the top of their worlds and succeed, or something to that effect. If you want me to give you an actual story I'll try to think on it more and get back to you, but since your the one writing , for now I will leave you with my opinion alone. Good luck on the project and be well!
Muaw!
Alice
